PRODUCTION CAPACITY
custom-designed primarily to saw squares for the dowel and turning industries.
annual square production was around 1,500,000 BF/yr. However, the mill has the capacity to produce more volume if sawing longer length lumber.
Sawing 1” boards the mill can easily produce up to 15,000 BF/ 8 hr. shift
The longer the length and the fewer the cuts, the better the yield and production capacity.

UNIQUE DESIGN
The design of the mill is unique in two ways

1. the sawyer’s booth is positioned directly behind the log providing an excellent end view of the log or bolt

2. the log/bolt is stationary, the saw moves back and forth on steel wheels with the double cut band cutting in both directions.

SETWORKS
The set works are SILVATECH and allow the operator to program a wide variety of sizes.

LABOR
This mill is operated with a 7-person crew. Depending on the products manufactured and the secondary operations required, the number of employees could be decreased or increased accordingly

BUILDING
60’x 125’ steel building, full coverage wet sprinkler system, all blowers and piping connected. Two overhead doors exit to the outside, and another large inside door gives direct access to the dry kilns and inside storage area. The entire building is encompassed with a custom made heated gutter system. Hot water is piped from the main wood boiler system and into this system. All of the collected water is diverted into underground drains and moved away from the building.  This prevents ice from building up around the entire building. This heated gutter system performed very well, even during heavy snow winters.

BLOWERS
One 50 H.P. main blower handles the headrig, twin band, and all other equipment in the sawmill.  Sawdust is transported to a cyclone and rotary air lock system located outside of the building and then distributed to the boiler silo or to the storage area by a separate 15 H.P. blower.

ELECTRICAL
There are two electrical feeds running from the main electrical entrance located in a separate room near the front of the manufacturing plant. One feed is a 400 amp service and runs to the sawmill, the other is a 200 amp service and runs directly to the chipper.  All disconnects are located and clearly marked on a wall in the sawmill.  Power is 3 phase, 480 volts.
